Piling Down

“Evil flourishes far more in the shadows than in the light of day.” –Jawaharlal Nehru

Noon,
but night rings
the city.

Dust can
be betrayed by moisture,
and makes for the heat,

asserted in
vapour revelations
from rooftops,

auto-
anal collection, and above
a thickened canopy

piling down on
the civilized intrusion.

Finger heat,
in man-made shadows,
coaxing death.
